April Monterrosa is an author, speaker, radio personality, and community advocate based in San Antonio, Texas. She is the publisher and editor-in-chief of Live From The Southside Magazine, the first Latina-owned publication in Southside San Antonio. Her expertise in media outreach for events, authors, artists, musicians, and business owners has led to the establishment of her company, April Mae Media. She has spoken at several events, inspiring many with her community engagement and empowerment message.
Passion for community engagement is evident through her involvement on various committees and boards, including the San Antonio Water System’s Community Experience Committee, the Palo Alto College Cosmetology Committee, the San Antonio District 4 Small Business Committee, Brooks Give Back, the San Antonio Women’s Business Center, and serving as the Director of Community Development for The Pink Berets, and chair for Mitchell Lake Audubon Center.
The love for her city is evident through establishing the Southside Book Fair, Wonderfully Wise Women, and Southside Market Days. As a Certified Tourism Ambassador for the City of San Antonio, she has also worked towards promoting the city to visitors and locals alike.
April’s accomplishments have earned her recognition as an influential Latina in San Antonio by KSAT12 News, affiliated with the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), and recognized as a civic leader and community advocate by the 87th Texas Legislature. Her unwavering commitment to her community and her passion for uplifting voices through media, events, and community engagement continue to inspire many.
